Exhibition: ………… and I leave
If the sound of drum and horn is coming from afar, if cauldrons have been set and the food is being cooked, if there is a joyful sorrow on one side and enthusiasm on the other, most likely a girl on a horse is about to be a “bride”.
While the bride on the horse, just like all the other brides before her, slowly makes her way towards her new home thinking “I weep and I go”; who knows how many young girls dream of being on top of that horse.
That bride on the horse, slowly making her way, not only leaves her father’s home, but also “migrates” to his husband’s house with her memories.
The essential ritual of being a bride is, by no doubt “Henna”. That is the ceremony where the bride-to-be says goodbye to her life so far and to her old house.
Henna night is said to be the “last” women’s night, it is a farewell.
Starting during the day and extending to the night, this ceremony itself is the embodiment of sadness, crying and fun combined.
